Business development manager Industries


The business development manager Industries will own the opportunity creation process for his/her vertical, which requires a thorough knowledge of IT, OT and IoT. He/she will be in charge of the organization and maintenance of all business aspects at accounts and prospects, whilst maximizing the profitability through high quality negotiations.

Besides the hunting role, he/she will be responsible for creating new opportunities with existing clients. This requires knowledge of client specific processes and the organisation’s inner workings.  

  • Co-develop a growth strategy within a port environment to identify key players in maritime services, terminals(container, bulk and liquids) and (petro-) chemicals
  • Co-develop strategies to target adjacent port communities
  • Lead creation through:
    • Close collaboration with Marketing
    • Attendance of industry specific events
    • Existing leads (CEO)
    • (If needed) cold calling
  • Detection of business needs by examining business processes and by fingerpointing opportunities for Rombit products or custom solutions
  • Close collaboration with presales to validate the offer from a commercial and business point of view
  • Approval of costings and profit margins
  • Work towards and attain closure of deals
  • Negotiation of full service cycle including SLA
  • Consult with technical team and project managers on frequent base during development cycle
  • Preparation and communication of market reports or information on commercial, technical or regulatory decisions to allow modification of appropriate strategy


  • Advanced negotiation and communication skills, focusing on customer interaction
  • Getting energy of long term relationship building with clients
  • Knowledge of sales cycles for IT projects/products
  • Based on a proven technical expertise, able to detect clients’ needs from a business point of view
  • Preferably sound technical background
  • Profound interest in industry specific challenges
  • Ability to interact with R&D to translate needs into actionable products/projects
  • Documenting sales related activities
  • Good planning skills and time management
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Thorough understanding of the business, combining knowledge of hardware, software and data
  • C-level interaction experience (C, C-1)

Furthermore, a suitable candidate should hold:

  • 5+ years of experience in a sales position
  • Education: Preferably Master’s degree
  • Excellent knowledge of Dutch/English
  • Strong existing network in Dutch market is a benefit
